No Regrets.

Somewhere in college I adopted the idea that I would rather mess-up than have to look back and say, “I wish I would’ve.”  I don’t remember the specific circumstances, but this approach has influenced much of my life.

There are two times in my life, I recall, probably in my early 20’s, I really wish I’d have taken action and simply didn’t know what to do and something held me back from trying, which is rare.  Both were cases of helping the vulnerable.  One was an endangered infant.  The other was a young lady being led through the Chicago airport by a man with a tight grip on her wrist, which he was attempting to hide.  Honestly, decades later, both of those regretful events still hit the pit of my stomach.

There are also times I’ve stepped up and done what was uncomfortable, yet needed.  Like having a man arrested who was tormenting his dog on the side of the road.  He went to jail.  We adopted the dog and placed her into a loving forever home.  None of that was comfortable—or easy.

Communities surrounded in sewage sludge are vulnerable, deceived, harmed.  And sometimes, the fighters are too sick to fight.  I remember saying a hundred times, “I’m so sick of being sick”.  Watching my family suffer unthinkable illnesses—so horrendous. Learning of my neighbors’ illnesses—so horrendous.

Things that are worth it are sometimes very hard.  If you can give the time, our mission needs you.  Read our website.  Get Informed. Get Involved.  We’ve got work to do, let’s boldly push forward without regrets…
